Representatives of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) discussed the upcoming hearings of the Public Order Emergency Commission, which is to begin on October 13, at a press conference held on the Parliament Hill on October 12, 2022. The Public Order Emergency Commission, led by Justice Paul Rouleau, is studying the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act on February 14, 2022, to declare a public order emergency in response to freedom convoy protests against COVID-19 public-health measures. The CCLA announced it was launching a court challenge of the government's invocation of the Act on February 17.
