35 Parliamentarians Call on Trudeau to Sanction Perpetrators Persecuting Falun Gong in China

July 20th marks Chinese Communist Party’s 22-year eradication campaign against Falun Gong. 35 Canadian Members of Parliament and Senators co-signed a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau. The letter urges Trudeau to condemn the persecution and impose sanctions on Chinese officials over the Falun Gong suppression using Magnitsky Act. “For 22 years, communist officials in China have carried out a state-sponsored, nationwide campaign of hate propaganda, arbitrary detention, illegal imprisonment, torture, extrajudicial killing, and large-scale organ harvesting targeting the tens of millions of adherents of Falun Gong, a spiritual practice guided by the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance,” said the letter. "One of the basic steps that the government of Canada should be taking at this time is imposing Magnitsky sanctions on Chinese Communist officials responsible for these egregious human rights abuses. The United States recently imposed Magnitsky style sanctions on two officials of '610 office'. Both sanctions were imposed both by the former Trump administration and the current Biden administration," said Conservative MP Michael Cooper at a rally in Edmonton on July 17. The “610 Office” is an extralegal Gestapo-like agency the CCP created specifically to persecute Falun Gong. Meanwhile Falun Gong supporters across Canada are holding rallies and vigils to call for an end to the crimes against humanity that lasted 22-years already. Limin Zhou reporting for NTD in Ottawa
