Michael Anton: Iran and China, How Much of National Security Threat Are They?

At CPAC 2020 The NTD Report sits down with Michael Anton, a former national security official in the Trump administration. We discuss the nation’s biggest national security threats: Iran and China. Anton says the Iran threat is lower today, in part because the U.S. attack on Qasem Soleimani was a "nose punch" to the Islamic regime. “When you get tough with Iran … they tend to back down. They tend to be aggressive when they think they’re not going to suffer for it,” says Anton. China, on the other hand, is a far bigger threat—not in terms of armed conflict, but because of their history of state and corporate espionage and because the United States has outsourced production of many things needed to ensure our national security.
