BIDEN: TRUMP TRIED TO PROTECT WALL ST.

Cristina matei
Joe Biden campaigning in North Carolina. He attacked President Trump's handling of the pandemic with new charges, about trying to protect investors on Wall Street. Biden said the president sold the American people short. Democratic candidate Joe Biden was courting early voters in North Carolina on Sunday. In the battleground state, 1-point-4 million, or 20-percent, of registered voters had already cast their ballots as of Sunday morning. Biden urged residents to get out and vote as soon as possible. JOE BIDEN (D) PRESIDENTIAL candidate "And Senator Harris and I are asking you for your trust and support. We'll always have your back, I promise you so please, please vote and help get out the vote." Speaking at a "drive-in rally" in Durham. Biden accused the president of giving Wall Street investors a heads up in the earlier stages of the pandemic, but not the American people. It's an allegation made by The New York Times in recent days. The article states that Wall Street reacted to the opinion of a hedge fund consultant who attended a 3-day meeting in late February. The meeting was between board members of the conservative Hoover Institution with senior members of the Trump administration's economic team. The hedge fund consultant's opinion from the meeting was that there was a note of uncertainty over whether the virus was fully contained. This apparently led investors to sell stocks short. JOE BIDEN (D) PRESIDENTIAL candidate "We need leadership that de-escalates tensions, opens lines of communication and brings us together to heal and to hope. As president, that's precisely what I'll do." While President Trump is reported to lag in opinion polls at a national level, Biden's campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon said over the weekend that the national figures are misleading, because must-win states are close.
