The trade loophole used by Chinese e-commerce giants, including Temu and Shein, could soon be closed. A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers is proposing a new law that would restrict the ability of Chinese retailers to ship goods while bypassing normal standards and not paying duties. Similar moves against Chinese e-commerce companies are being looked into globally, amid findings of toxic products, knock-off goods, and concerns over consumer safety.
