Hiroshi Yamada MP Member of the House of Councillors, Japan Hiroshi Yamada is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has been a member of the Upper House since 2016. He is currently Chairman of the Councillors Committee on Health, Labor and Welfare; Vice-Chairman of the Committee related to Health and Labor at the Organizational Movement Headquarters of the Liberal Democratic Party ; Member of the Constitutional Review Commission; Acting Secretary-General of the Headquarters for Constitutional Reform at the Liberal Democratic Party; Secretary-General of the Association for Protecting Japan's Dignity and National Interests. He studied at the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management between 1981 and 1985. He was elected as the youngest ever member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, serving two four-year terms between 1985 and 1993. He became a Member of the Lower House from 1993 till 1996. After losing his seat in 1996, he decided to focus on district level politics rather than national level politics. He was elected as a local councillor for Suginami District, Tokyo from 1999 till 2010. During this period he started to publish books about reforming Japan. His latest book, “A man who Paves the Way”, was published in 2016. It discusses what is important and what needs to be done to awaken the confidence of the Japanese people and to build a proud Japanese nation.
