Transforming Octahedron "Bloom Ball" designed by Jeremy Shafer

JeremyShaferOrigami
[Intermediate] This 6-piece modular octahedron ball enlarges as you peel the petals outward and it stays on its own in that enlarged state until you flip the petals back inward. The modules are connected to each other without tape or glue using the same lock as the Two Interlocking Rings I taught here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd1xw8jA9QQ but the method I show here I think is a little easier. To fold this model I used 6-inch kami (origami paper), but I found that after expanding and contracting it over a dozen times, the center points of the flowers start to weaken and holes form. So if you want a longer lasting model I'd recommend putting a small piece of clear tape onto the the center of each square on the white side (first fold the sheet of paper in half in both directions to find the center). Another suggestion is to make the blooming easier and faster, you could make tiny reverse folds on the tips of all four petals of each module. That will make it easier to grab them. In the outro of the video I included a few full unedited clips of raw footage outtakes to give you an idea of what that looks like. I think it's the first time I've ever done that on here on YouTube! #OctahedronFlasherWannabe #Foldtabulous #JeremyShaferOrigami Here are some ways to support me to make more awesome origami videos: 1.
