Senate Passes Hawley's Budget Amendment Bill Blocking Taxpayer Funding to Chinese Companies

The Senate passed a budget amendment bill Tuesday that was authored by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.). The bill stipulates that U.S. appropriations money will not go to Chinese companies or to companies that China controls. The amendment was passed 61–36, but there were some critics who expressed concerns about the consequences the amendment could have.
