Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took to his chamber's floor to announce he will be stepping down as leader of the Senate Republicans. The 82-year-old legislator confirmed he will continue to serve his current term as Senator "albeit from a different seat" after the election of his replacement in November. "Father Time remains undefeated," said McConnell of his decision, "It's time for the next generation of leadership," although he humorously added "I'm not going anywhere anytime soon... and I still have enough gas in my tank to thoroughly disappoint my critics" before thanking his colleagues.
