Philly's Thanksgiving Day Parade Is America’s Oldest

The first Thanksgiving Day parade in Philadelphia was held in 1920. The now defunct Gimbel Brothers Department Store created the parade to be particularly child-friendly. "I’m seeing all the Disney characters, all the movie characters, there’s great bands coming by," said spectator Edward Ferguson. "It’s great for kids, and it's very festive."
