Several U.S. cities issued air quality warnings on June 28 as a smoky haze from ongoing Canadian wildfires spread south. Chicago, the third-largest city in the United States, had the worst air quality of any large city in the world due to the smoke, according to IQ Air, a website that tracks pollution. The former U.S. Marine sergeant accused of fatally strangling Jordan Neely, a homeless man, in a chokehold in a New York subway car last month appeared in court on June 28, pleading not guilty to charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. The former Marine, Daniel Penny, 24, will appear for another hearing on Oct. 25.
