Former President Donald Trump testified in his own defense at the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial on Jan. 25. He stood by the stance that Ms. Carroll's allegations of sexual assault are false. Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro was sentenced to four months in jail for contempt of Congress. His legal team asked the judge to stay the sentence for further deliberation. Some Republican senators say Minority Leader Mitch McConnell changed his tune on the Ukraine aid-border security deal. There were mixed responses from lawmakers as to whether the deal could still go through.
