After spending 17 years at the helm, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced Wednesday he will step down as Senate GOP leader in November. The 82-year-old is the longest-serving party leader in Congress's upper chamber. A raging wildfire is rampaging across the Texas Panhandle, threatening homes, farms, and businesses and forcing residents to evacuate. Wildfires are rapidly spreading across Texas and Oklahoma and prompting the closure of a plant that disassembles nuclear weapons. A New York appellate judge rejected former President Donald Trump’s request to pause the $454 million civil fraud penalty, but halted some other sanctions. President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden testified before House lawmakers in a private deposition. He denied that his father was involved in his business dealings. This testimony is part of the House impeachment inquiry into the president.
