Federal authorities arrested former U.S. ambassador Victor Manuel Rocha, accusing him of spying for Cuba for over 40 years. The Justice Department said this is “one of the highest-reaching and longest-lasting infiltrations of the United States government by a foreign agent.” Israeli forces expanded their military campaign further into the southern part of Gaza, and asked residents to evacuate. At the United Nations, Israeli officials urged the agency to recognize Hamas as the terrorist organization. A U.S. Navy warship shot down three drones in the Red Sea, fired by Houthi rebels backed by the Iranian regime. The White House says the U.S. will take appropriate action to respond to attacks against commercial ships in the region. The president of this year’s U.N. climate conference said there’s “no science” that shows the world needs to get rid of fossil fuels.
