Former President Donald Trump's New York campaign finance trial began with jury selection on Monday. President Trump was in the courtroom throughout the day, and again called the case "political persecution." It's the first criminal trial of any U.S. president. The White House urged deescalation as Israel weighs its response to the aerial attack from Iran. Congress is expected to vote on a supplemental foreign aid bill that covers Israel and over a dozen bills to further sanction Iran. The FBI opened a criminal investigation into the Baltimore bridge collapse that killed six people. Agents boarded the cargo ship Dali, which rammed into the bridge. They were trying to find out if the crew left the port knowing there were problems with the ship. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the weapons supervisor for the movie "Rust," was sentenced to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter. The judge said she was liable for actor Alec Baldwin's fatal shooting on set in 2021.
