According to a new study that came out of Qatar and was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, those who have already suffered from COVID-19, and therefore have natural immunity, are very well protected against future infections.
In fact, this study found that among the people who already had COVID-19, only 0.4 percent got it again—and among those reinfections, over 99 percent were mild cases.
Meanwhile, in regard to the new variant of the virus that just came out of South Africa, it turns out that the reason it was named “Omicron” was in large part due to the fact that the World Health Organization did not want to offend China.
Otherwise, based on the Greek alphabet, it should have actually been called the Xi variant.
Lastly, the head of South Africa’s medical association, who is also one of the first doctors to discover this new variant, said over the weekend that the symptoms that she’s seeing are unusual—but are actually rather mild.
