R. L. Solberg is an author, teacher, and lay theologian based in Nashville, TN where he lives with his wife of 30 years, Debra, and a big German Shepherd named Thor. They are stakeholders at the Church of the City, Spring Hill and have two spectacular daughters who are out making their mark on the world. In preparation for his debate with Rabbi Tovia Singer, he studied Singer's books Let’s Get Biblical, volumes 1 and 2. In particular was Solberg interested in his take on the Resurrection of Jesus. Singer and Solberg both agree with the apostle Paul that “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is futile. R. L. Solberg is the author of two books, an apologist, and a professor of theology. He is based in Nashville, TN where he lives with his wife of thirty years, Debra. They are stakeholders at the Church of the City (Spring Hill, TN) and have two spectacular daughters who are out making their mark on the world. Solberg is a leading Christian apologist against Torahism (aka Hebrew Roots or Torah-observant Christianity). This heresy teaches that followers of Jesus are required to keep the Old Testament Law. He has been pursuing theology, apologetics, and philosophy formally and informally for more than two decades. He studied at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from Williamson College, where he is now an adjunct professor of theology and philosophy. He also studied Biblical Hebrew at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Solberg strives to communicate on complex topics with clarity and grace, bringing a creative perspective to the conversation. In November 2019, Solberg’s first book was released, Torahism: Are Christians Required to Keep the Law of Moses?Since then, he has appeared on numerous podcasts and radio shows to discuss his book and the rise of movements within Christianity that are teaching a return to keeping the Torah. His new book, Divergence: The Impact of Anti-Semitism on Early Christianity was released in July 2021. Solberg has also recently launched a YouTube channel called Biblical Roots of Christianity where he posts video teachings on these topics, and a new revised and expanded 2nd edition of Torahism.
