Mr. Celsus Talifilu's message after experiencing the greatest changes in the Solomon Islands

#1, After the diplomatic switch from POC Taiwan to PRC, what are the greatest changes happened in the Solomon Islands? Celsus Talifilu: The greatest change so far is having some kind of a fear hovering over your head, that you've been watched, or you can sense that is happening at our place, you've been having that kind of experience in your own place, the place that you call home. That's the fear that I think I've seen happening.

Apart from all the things that have happened, there is the elite capture, there is the use of law fair, there is the use of propaganda, those things are now being used in our country, like never before. So that's what is happening in the Solomon Islands. 

And that has transpired into international arena, in terms of the security deal that was done between the two governments. And at the regional level, you would have heard it recently, there was the agreement that was signed between the Palestinian government and the US. Our prime minister was there. He has not attended the session with the United States. And that speaks volume of how things have happened in our country, and how it has affected our leaders in terms of the cooperations at regional level. #2, Mr. Talifilu urges elites everywhere to protect their own countries after experiencing CCP’s Elite Capture in Solomon Islands. Celsus Talifilu: So be respectful, be mindful that your conduct can destroy the place, or, your conduct can save the place. What you're seeing in the Solomons, and I think everywhere, the power that CCP is using is money. So that's the weapon that we need to counter. in my view, values are the first things. Principles, your ethics about respecting your place, your resources, your laws, your institutions - if you don't have any respect to those things, that’s where they're going to come in and destroy you. So the elites must not think that Canada or the US or wherever, belongs to themselves only - it belongs to everyone. And you have a responsibility to protect that - as an elite - and not to destroy it. #3: Mr. Talifilu’s message to people everywhere after experiencing “elite capture” in the Solomon Islands Celsus Talifilu: The government is a product of the people. People make choices by electing people. So it is important to elect people that looked after our place - your place. Government doesn't come in an automatic way. It started with the people. Therefore, the people, you need to make that choice to have proper value-based people, people who can protect the interest of the country, people who protect the interests of the world, and people who protect and continue to ensure democracy is the system - that allows everyone to coexist - not communism. #4: Why is Mr. Talifilu Standing up to CCP? Celsus Talifilu: By standing up to Beijing, there are concerns that people have told me and in my family, my wife, and my kids, they do feel intimidated by some of the things that have happened to them, you know, they've been watched, something that is not normal. Even my daughter was quite fearful to use my surname at the university that she's attending, I think those are elements themselves that speaks of what is happening to us. And any normal human being would see - those things , there can be fear in you. But like I've said many times, our place is important. Once upon a time, our place belongs to some people, they look after us, look after the place for us. And we have the same responsibility too, to continue looking after the place for our next generations. And, that is something beyond just a family, that is beyond just a tribe, that is something beyond just a province. That is something for the place I come from, which is Solomon Island.
