[1st photo] Here are 2 Neolithic cursus monuments. The oldest monument type in the country. [blur gif, 12th image down, as background to question] So how does archaeology form cropmarks? [now use gif without blur] A small Iron Age settlement (c. 800 BC – 43 AD) The same site in the Roman period (43 AD – 410 AD) The structures have left cropmarks. An excavation trench reveals the nature of the cropmarks. [show various images of cropmarks] Several hundred cropmarks have revealed themselves this summer due to the dry weather.
