US: 2 Dead in Tanker-Truck Fire on I-105 Freeway in Hawthorne, CA
A tanker truck and a SUV got entangled in the westbound lanes of the I-105 Freeway near the Crenshaw Boulevard exit in Hawthorne early Friday morning, a fiery collision that killed two people and prompted the closure of all lanes in both directions for several hours. The incident, which occurred just after 5 a.m. and also involved an SUV, left two dead. The drivers were the victims. The accident involved a double-tanker truck that ended up hitting the center divider and then overturning, with the front tank bursting into flames. At 8 a.m., the eastbound lanes re-opened but some motorists on the westbound side were still stuck.
