Body of 7-year-old migrant girl who died after crossing border returned to Guatemala

The Body Of 7-year-old Jakelin Caal Maquin Arrived In Guatemala Sunday Afternoon. Her Body Was Transported By Plane From Laredo, Texas, And Was Met By Officials From Guatemala's Foreign Ministry. Her Remains Will Be Transported To The Remote Indigenous Community Of Raxruha Where She Was From. Jakelin Had Traveled With Her Father, Nery Gilberto Caal, 29, More Than 2,000 Miles From Her Home In Northern Guatemala And Celebrated Her Birthday On The Road, Hoping To Make It To The United States Safely. The Father And Daughter Were Detained Along With 163 Other Migrants West Of The Antelope Wells Port Of Entry In New Mexico On December 6 And She Died Two Days Later After Falling Ill.
