Street gunbattles break out as El Chapo's son arrested
Ovidio guzman -- one of the sons of infamous mexican cartel leader joaquin "El chapo" guzman -- is back in police custody after a shootout earlier thursday in the state of sinaloa.
This according to "El chapo's" lawyer, jeffrey lichtman.
The incident was a clash between federal troops and cartel members who were reportedly attempting to rescue two of el chapo's sons from the hands of the law.
Cnn affiliate adn40 was at the scene -- telling cnn armored vehicles with military-grade machinery exchanged heavy artillery against federal troops.
Mexican president andres manuel lopez obrador told reporters thursday night at mexico city airport that the security cabinet was in a meeting and would brief the country on the situation at a later time.
