New York—Teen accused of vandalizing memorial of slain Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient

A 14-year-old boy was charged for vandalizing the memorial of a fallen Navy SEAL. The boy was charged with second-degree criminal mischief. A granite stone with an image of the SEAL, Lt. Michael Murphy, was shattered. The park was dedicated to Lt. Michael Murphy in 2009. He was once a lifeguard there. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he was “appalled and disgusted”. Cuomo promised that the state would pay to replace the plaque. Credit: US NAVY, Wikimedia Commons, Suffolk County Police Department via Facebook
