This year only 15.4 million people watched the annual Hollywood party. It was the second worst in the history of the telecast. There was an unexpected event at this year's awards ceremony. Actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock, over a joke, as Rock was presenting an award. Even so, it didn't boost the Oscars ratings by much. The bill that is criticized by Hollywood celebrities is the Parental Rights in Education Act. Ron DeSantis signed it into law. It prohibits classroom instruction, on sexual orientation in kindergarten through the third grade, as well as instruction, that isn’t age-appropriate. Moscow said that the EU and other "unfriendly" countries would have to pay for the previously signed gas orders in rubles. But the G-7 rejected this request.
