Stranded Hiker Rescued From Bottom of 300-Foot Cliff
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a hiker who was stranded at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff in California.
The hiker became stranded 3.5 miles north of the mouth of the Klamath River on Sunday, the Coast Guard said in a release.
The hiker was able to use his cell phone to contact the authorities, and a crew from Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay traveled to the area via helicopter to complete the rescue.
The helicopter crew arrived around one hour after the call, around 3:30 p.m., and located the hiker, who was standing on rocks near the breaking surf and waving a red flag.
