Rescuers extract man from rubble in Palu, Sulawesi
A 38-year-old man was extracted from a financial building in Palu, Central Sulawesi Monday (October 1), after the search and rescue team worked for three hours to get him out.
Palu, one of the worst hit cities in the quake, saw 1,700 houses in one neighbourhood being swallowed up, with hundreds believed to be buried, the national disaster agency said.
Video obtained by Reuters showed rescuers from the National Search and Rescue Agency, or Human Basarnas, extracting a 38-year-old man who was trapped in a financial building in the area.
The number of confirmed deaths stood at 844 on Tuesday, most of them in Palu, the main city in the disaster zone, where rescuers were hunting for victims in the ruins.
