Celeste Li
The family of American Carla Stefaniak filed a suit against Airbnb following her murder in Costa Rica. Police officials in the Central American country said Stefaniak, 36, was murdered on Nov. 27 or Nov. 28. Bismarck Martinez, an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua is the main suspect and was arrested. Martinez was a security guard at the Villa le Mas, which rents out rooms through Airbnb. Stefaniak’s family says Airbnb didn’t do a proper background check on Martinez. The suit also alleges that the company deleted negative reviews about the rental.
