JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SIDES WITH DC CHURCH

Cristina matei
CHYRON: JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SIDES WITH DC CHURCH Members of the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington D-C haven't been able to meet in person for over half a year. The church filed a lawsuit last month challenging the restrictions. The Trump administration and the Justice Department are now extending their support. SE: https://www.theepochtimes.com/justice-department-sides-with-dc-church-in-opposing-covid-restrictions_3525614.html PKG 0:50 The Trump administration is supporting a new, federal lawsuit. Filed by a local church, it challenges the District of Columbia's pandemic restrictions. The order limits church gatherings to 100 people in the Capital. Even those held outdoors. The Justice Department filed a document arguing the cap on church gathering size violates the First Amendment of the Constitution, and federal law. The lawsuit claims religious organizations like the church are being clamped down on unfairly. That's because political protests like those held by Black Lives Matter and other activities protected by the First Amendment are allowed to operate freely. The lawsuit also accuses Washington's Mayor of hypocrisy. It points out that she herself attended a large social justice protest in June. Members of the Church have been unable to meet in person since early March.
