Dace warming up for upstream migration to spawn in Korean rivers

NTD

Thousands of dace have been flocking to a lake in South Korea’s northeastern resort coastal city of Sokcho to warm up for their upstream migration to spawn in a nearby tiny river. Making the lough Yeongnangho half water and half fish, the shoals of fish as long and thick as an adult’s arm are all dace preparing for their upstream spawning run along the Jangcheon stream in the northwestern district of Sokcho. Dace’s upstream migration to lay eggs in the rivers along the country’s eastern coastal region is known to be continuing until May. Credit: YTN via AP
