Daniel Fishman: 'If You Own Yourself, Government Cannot Tell You What to Do'

Daniel Fishman, executive director at People For Liberty and the former executive director of the Libertarian Party, said about his organization: "We are people for liberty. We recognize the fact that the liberty movement has failed a lot in its messaging because we tell Americans, 'Oh, you should be free,' and most people say, 'Well, I am free 'cause I live in America.' But if you try to start a business, you have to tell the government. Try to put up a shed in your back yard, you have to tell the government. ... We want to find a way to find the people who are interested in liberty in their personal lives and unite them with the idea that everybody who's fighting for liberty is working on it together."
He adds that Libertarians believe in two things: the first one is you own yourself, and the second one is do not use force or fraud for political gains.
He says socialism means "the government can control the means of production," so by controlling the means of production, they will really restrict what you do.
