Two Planes Collide at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport

Mark Liu
Two United Airlines jets collided on the tarmac at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, causing minor damage and no injuries. The two planes were parked at neighboring gates, Federal Aviation Administration official Tony Molinaro told the Chicago Sun-Times. As United Flight 645 was backing out of Gate C30, the tip of its left wing clipped the left wingtip of Flight 2746, which was parked at Gate C28. Both planes suffered minor damage.    “I noticed a lot of people over by the windows looking out, wondering what was going on. A lot of airport employees, people with their cameras up,” witness Alexandra Carley told CBS News. Flight 645 was departing the gate on its way to Portland, Oregon, when it hit its sister plane. The plane was full of passengers, but no one was hurt. The flight was delayed for two hours. Flight 2746 was headed to Cleveland, but was canceled. The plane was empty at the time of the collision.
