Dust Devil Whips Through Market on Spain's Costa Blanca

2018-05-15 20:20
Swirling winds created miniature tornadoes in the central marketplace in Guardamar del Segura on Spain’s east coast on May 13. These tiny tornadoes, called "dust devils," can wreak as much havoc as their larger cousins, but on a smaller scale. Shopkeepers tried to hang onto the covers of their stalls as one particularly strong dust devil threatened to send their stalls skyward while scattering their merchandise. After it wrecked the shopping center, the dust devil moved into ta nearby parking lot to sandblast some of the shoppers' cars.
