Biden Campaign Claims Facebook Blocked Ads

meiji rong
The Biden Campaign says Facebook has mistakenly blocked thousands of Biden ads this week. The Biden campaign's digital director said, "We find ourselves 5 days out from Election Day unable to trust that our ads will run properly, or if our opponents are being given an unfair, partisan advantage." Facebook introduced a new rule on Tuesday that no new political ads should be placed in the week running up to the election. The platform has been under pressure to fact-check the candidates' campaigns. Instead of taking on that task, they stopped running new political ads. The ban excludes ads that were published by Monday night. Facebook says Biden's ads were accidentally marked as missing the deadline - when in fact they met the deadline. The Biden campaign says it has lost half a million dollars of fundraising revenue because of it. Facebook issued a full statement about the issue on Thursday. It said, "The technical problems were automated and impacted ads from across the political spectrum and both Presidential campaigns." No one from the Trump campaign has complained about any ads being blocked. The Financial Times reported that the Trump campaign was able to publish ads with the incorrect election date this week. Facebook did take them down. Facebook denies allegations that it blocked Biden's ads because of political bias.
