A California county is poised to change the way it counts COVID-19 deaths based on a new algorithm; a Hollywood actor is criminally charged for his involvement in the fatal "Rust" shooting that led to the death of his cinematographer; and weeks of rain brought much needed relief to the state.
Stargazers will soon have the opportunity to see an once-in-a-50,000-year comet; preparation for the annual Lunar New Year parade is underway in San Francisco; and California children under 5 will be eligible to receive one free book by mail from a library each month.
