The Supreme Court called off Joe Biden's vaccine mandate for private businesses. SCOTUS held that Congress had not given the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) the authority to issue such an executive order. The Biden administration then asked the Supreme Court if employers could mandate masks and frequent testing. The court also rejected that request. Democrats have made several efforts to pass the voting rights bill that would put the federal government in charge of elections across the country. But they Failed. The Senate only needs 50 votes to pass the bill but Republicans can use the filibuster to kill it. It would take 60 votes to end the filibuster but two Democratic senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have refused to support it. Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has called on Europe to deal with COVID-19 as if it was the flu and to learn to live with it. The Spanish government is the first major country to advise the EU to treat the pandemic as an “endemic illness.” The proposal would abolish lockdowns and the daily count of infections and replace it with a system that tracks cases as if it were the flu. The UK will also stop treating COVID as a pandemic.
