CA lawmakers consider bill to remove soda from kids menus
A new bill in California will fine restaurants that
don't remove soda and juice from kids menus.
A written notice for a first offense and a fine
of $250 for a second offense is in the bill.
Each additional violation would cost $500.
The bill cleared the state assembly on Aug.16
and now heads back to the state Senate.
The Senate previously supported the measure.
Restaurants could still lawfully serve children
sugary drinks if their parents requested them.
Seven cities in California have enacted similar laws.
