Climate contrarian uncovers scientific error, upends major ocean warming study

An independent climate scientist has found a big mistake in a major ocean warming study. Nicholas Lewis posted an online critique of the paper that was published in the journal Nature. The study claimed the world’s oceans are warming 60% more than the United Nations had estimated in its IPCC report in 2014. Lewis found the researchers made miscalculations, which made the results no longer unique. A co-author has accepted responsibility for the mistake and thanked Lewis for his work. The authors said they have since made corrections and resubmitted the study for publication.
