President Trump hosts NCAA football champs at White House

2018-04-11 00:46
President Donald Trump welcomed the University of Alabama football team to the White House and congratulated the team on its victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the NCAA championship game. "Roll, Tide, he said after calling Alabama's comeback victory over Georgia "one of the greatest victories ever." "Down 13-0 at halftime to a great Georgia team, these champions fought back as they did all season long, and they kept fighting and fighting." Alabama's head coach, Nick Saban, said the season was a bit like a metaphor for life, in terms of adversity, perseverance and hard work. After the two men spoke, the team presented the president with a University of Alabama commemorative football jersey with the number 17 on the back of it. "We're proud of the way you play, we're proud of the way you represent yourselves, the University, and your state. And that is a great, great state," the president said. Credit: AP
