'It's a Show of Love' Artists Touched by the Beauty of Shen Yun

Celeste Li
After the performances in Quebec, Canada, Shen Yun continued its tour and started its performance in Montreal on Jan. 3. Jo-Anne Laflèche, a psychologist who is also a former ballet dancer was touched by the beauty of Shen Yun, and she felt that she was brought to another universe. "I found it absolutely sublime, I was extremely touched by the beauty of the show and by the inner character of the show," said Laflèche. "What was going on with the music was alive, and the dance was a living art, brought me into the Chinese universe, so it was really very very very beautiful." "It's lively, it's joyful. A little fantasy too, with magic and all that, there is this aspect there too," said Ivana Fulminis, an interior designer. “In addition to the virtuosity of the dancers, the aesthetic beauty of the decor, and the costumes and everything. There is this inner beauty that blends with the outer beauty and that for me I found to be extraordinary,” added Laflèche. They also felt inspired after watching the performance. "There is always an appreciation for everything exotic, colorful textures. It's really something I'm seeing tonight, it's inspiring," said Fulminis. "And maybe tomorrow I'll look at things that may be more colorful, that give you more of a taste, move away a little bit from the ordinary, from black, white and grey, and heading towards something more exotic." "I find the colors every year or every time I see the pictures, the colors of the costumes are just beautiful. They are very exotic colors," said Terrance Lazaroff, a porter artisan. The Chinese culture displayed by Shen Yun reminds the audience of the power of compassion. "It's a show of love and universal love, and I found it amazing, really," said Laflèche.
