Escape From Sobibo

On October 14, 1943, 600 Jews imprisoned in Sobibor, a secret Nazi death camp in eastern Poland, revolted. They killed a dozen SS officers and guards, trampled the barbed wire fences, and raced across an open field filled with anti-tank mines. Against all odds, more than three hundred made it safely into the woods. A 1987 television movie, "Escape from Sobibor" chronicles the uprising and is an accurate account of the events, the Engels say. It was based on a book of the same name by Richard Rashke. The videotape is stocked in some school libraries in Connecticut, but the book has been out of print for several years.
