The fencing around the Capitol has come back down. The violence expected over the weekend at the Justice for Jan. 6th event didn't pan out. While the event ended without incident, there were some clashes and 4 arrests. Police confirmed that between 400 and 500 people showed up. Officers wore riot gear. And there were also plainclothes police, and law enforcement on bicycles and horses. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas at the southern border today. He had a warning for those trying to illegally enter the U.S.: "If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned. Your journey will not succeed and you will be endangering your life and your family's lives. This administration is committed to developing safe, orderly and humane pathways for migration, but this is not the way to do it." This comes as thousands of illegal immigrants from Haiti have been moved from under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas. And Senate Democrats wanted to include immigration reform as part of the $4.5T reconciliation package. But yesterday the parliamentarian ruled it would be too much of a policy change for the reconciliation process. He ruled: "Changing the law to clear the way to [legal permanent residence] status is tremendous and enduring policy change that dwarfs its budgetary impact."
