Heavy Rain Storms Cause Severe Flooding in Southern China

The Epoch Times
The Epoch Times
Heavy rains hit many parts of China in the past week, causing severe flooding in many different parts of China. In Guizhou Province, a reservoir collapsed and locals had to abandon their homes and run uphill. Man in the background: “The Longtang Reservoir collapsed. Residents and people on the street are all running toward Jiazhou. The reservoir is so primitive in the manner it was constructed. The reservoir and the power station here have both collapsed. People on the street are running uphill. The lower areas here are all flooded.” In another video, several people were swept away by the flood. A group of men successfully caught and saved them downstream. In Shizhu County of Chongqing City, rain poured down several days in a row. By June 14, the entire county was submerged underwater, even cars parked on the street were washed away. At a middle school and an elementary school, the first floor of school buildings were soaked in water, trapping some staff and students inside the building. On June 7, Guilin City of Guangxi Province suffered torrential rain for 30 hours. In Yangshuo County of Guilin, the rainfall broke a historical record. The Guangxi Meteorological Bureau upgraded the meteorological disaster level to Second Emergency Response. Streets turned into rivers, cars were washed away, and the street transformed itself into a river. Washed away cars slammed into buildings. Man in the background: “The gas station close to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital is submerged underwater.” Some netizens revealed that in Yangshuo, the water level rose so high that even the second floor of many houses were submerged in flood. In Changsha City, Hunan Province, a man had to abandon his car to stay safe. Conclusion: Chinese state media have kept quiet on the floods in various regions across China. Instead, they intensively reported on the protests and riots in the United States due to the death of George Floyd. As a result, Chinese people living in areas unaffected do not even know there were floods in many places. A victim lamented, “When I read the news, I almost get confused as to which country I live in!”
