A taxi driver drove into a crowd of pedestrians near Red Square, Moscow, on June 16. Seven people were injured. The driver told police that he hit the wrong pedal, pressing on the accelerator instead of the brake. He said that he had been working for 20 hours, after only sleeping for two or three hours. He said he fled the scene because he was afraid he would be killed. The incident took place as residents and visitors flocked to the city for the World Cup.
