Michigan--Bodycam Shows Grand Rapids Police Officer Shoot Charging Pit Bull

Della Sun
Law enforcement officers are forced to do things every single day that they wish they did not have to do...and GRPD is no exception. On Friday, in the early morning hours, officers responded to a call of a loose aggressive dog chasing people in the 1700 block of Kalamazoo Av SE. After 30 minutes of trying to entice/snare the dog, attempting to identify and contact an owner including phone calls to each house, and after the dog charged at an unsuspecting neighbor exiting his house, officer shot twice at the dog as it charged the officer in the street. The dog is fortunately still alive and has been reunited with its owner. Warning: the attached video shows an officer shooting a dog and may be difficult to watch.
