Packed House in Ludwigsburg Germany to See Shen Yun

Mark Liu
Ludwigsburg audience members took a journey of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through the eyes of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Forum am Schlosspark Ludwigsburg. They joined a packed house on March 8. "It was really very professional," said Theatre Director Benjamin Sahler, "I think it's wonderful that there's a live orchestra, and I was really surprised [by it] because I was a little concerned about whether or not Chinese sounds would appeal to my ear, as we have a somewhat different idea of music in the West. I needn't have worried: It was really very pleasant, and there wasn't any big difference in terms of the emotionality or anything—it was moving, and you could really allow yourself to be swept away by it. " "Yes, it was amazing," said musician Maria Mokhova. "Shen Yun is simply first class, always A1 in terms of performance, so you're always guaranteed that it will be a fantastic show." Maria Mokhova was introduced to the piano at the age of 6 and to the organ at the age of 11 in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia. After completing her studies at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, she moved to Heidelberg and studied at the Heidelberg School of Music and Theater. She has seen the performance several times, but is still eager to watch it again. "Musically and in terms of dancing—this was truly a top-class performance. You can tell from the dances that every movement is perfectly coordinated and perfectly trained," She added. "So I'd like to send my compliments to all of the trainers for their preparation and arrangement. I think it's really very impressive with all the acrobatic elements and jumps, and it all looks so easy, so natural. Simply superb technique, and they've definitely put a lot of work into it." "It was really very interesting, completely new for me, and with a lot of different acrobatic elements," said Sahler. "What I liked very much was how well-synchronized everyone was - that was really well rehearsed and is something different from what we know in the West as a dance form, although there are some similarities. It is just such a unique experience, and offers entirely new insights into another culture. " NTD News, Germany
