On the #WalkAway Campaign, President Trump, the First Step Act, and Reparations—Isaiah Washington

Just why did actor and producer Isaiah Washington decide to join the #WalkAway movement? What, through his eyes, is the significance of the First Step Act, and its role in the process of prison reform in America? And how does political correctness fit into all of this? This is American Thought Leaders, and I’m Jan Jekielek. Today we sit down Isaiah Washington, an actor and producer who started his career in Hollywood in a number of Spike Lee films. He is perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Preston Burke in television show Grey’s Anatomy. More recently, he starred in the science fiction TV series The 100. We discuss his career, criminal justice reform, identity politics, victim mentality, and Washington’s unique take on the issue of reparations.
