Brooklyn Native Killed in Parkland Massacre Honored as Hero

A fallen son of Brooklyn, New York, was honored as a hero on Wednesday. Peter Wang, 15, was killed during a school shooting in Parkland, Florida. The shooting resulted in the loss of 17 lives. Wang’s family had moved to Parkland Just a year and a half before the shooting. They moved to allow Wang the chance To participate in a Junior ROTC program. At the time of the shooting, Wang was Wearing his Junior ROTC Cadet Uniform. He was killed as he selflessly held a door open to help classmates and staff escape gunfire. (Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams) It is my honor to salute Peter Wang by awarding him with a citation For his selflessness and bravery which undoubtedly saved many Lives. The borough president also invited the parents Of fallen NYPD Officer Liu WenJian to The ceremony. Liu was killed alongside his partner, Rafael Ramos, after being shot in their patrol car in an ambush last summer. Adams called both Wang and Liu heroes.
