A horse and a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy are safe on land after a frozen pond rescue involving police and firefighters. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office reported on social media that deputies responded at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 to a Ray Township residence for a report of a horse in an ice-covered pond. Deputies and firefighters from the Ray Township Fire Department attempted to guide it out with ropes but discovered the horse was unable to move its legs above the ice, the post said. One deputy, attempting to bridle the horse, fell through the ice but was quickly removed from the pond and continued to help with the rescue, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said. The horse was pulled to safety and both the animal and the deputy were reported uninjured, though the horse was seen by a veterinarian.
