Stolen Mail Including Ballots Found in WA

News of "mail voting issues" are piling up as a record number of Americans are choosing to vote remotely. Several bags with stolen mail were found in Washington. They included a number of ballots. Bags of stolen mail that included numerous ballots were found in Seattle. Multiple bags were discarded by roadsides and ditches. Officials sent out a warning to residents of Sammamish, a neighboring city, about the mail theft. They are asking people to lock their mailboxes, and check and empty them often, to avoid the theft. The local police department said that mail theft is not uncommon in the area. They do not believe the crime was politically motivated. Sammamish's Police Chief (Dan Pingrey) told MyNorthWest that people are constantly try to take advantage of unlocked mailboxes to commit fraud and forgery. Now, they also get ballots in addition to other mail. The stolen ballots were discovered by Amazon employees who were, at the time, delivering other packages. United States Postal Service officials, together with the police department, are working on returning the stolen mail and ballots to their rightful owners.
