DIY Exploding Wall Clock With Motion Lighting [How To Make]

DIY Perspective

DIY Exploding Design Wall Clock With Motion Lighting - in this video I am going to show you step by step how to make creative and unique looking wall clock with integrated motion lighting system. Clock is made from 210 x 210mm x 18mm thickness glued wood board square. Spots for the electronic components were made with a router, which doesn't cost a fortune and is very versatile when working with wood. Small cube pieces on the template is best to cut with the 1mm jigsaw blade and glue with high quality glue. Clock's motion-sensitive lighting system is powered by two protected Lithium-Ion batteries (18650) connected in series which gives 8.4V (max charge). Protected batteries are longer so sometimes you need to slightly bend battery box connectors. RGBW LED strip needs 12V, but with 8.4V (or even with 6.4V, when I tested) Red channel glows very brightly compared to regular white color LEDs. So a single Red color is quite a good solution for simple lower voltage lighting. HC-SR501 infrared motion sensor consumes only ~0.065mA, which makes this lighting system very efficient. This quite unique clock design idea is orientated to make the clock more interactive. When I walk by the clock, I always raise my hand to activate its lighting! It maybe sounds silly, but every time I do that, I feel somehow very satisfied! :) But if you don't want this motion lighting system you can just make the clock without it, because even without the lighting, this clock looks really cool!
